Solar energy has been a hot topic today and more and more businesses and homes are investing in this type of installation! In addition to causing much less impact on the environment, solar panels also allow good savings and still greatly value the property in which they are installed. So far so good, but there is an important point that few people question, to install solar panels is it necessary to have authorization from any competent agency? This is the subject of our article, come on guys!
Whether or not an authorization is required will depend on the type of installation that will be used! You may not know it, but there are two ways to install a photovoltaic electric generation system, we can use the off-grid system and the on-grid system, but what is it, on-grid and off-grid
The capture of solar energy must be carried out through a solar energy project. In the case of capturing solar energy in an on-grid system, it is connected to the utility’s electrical network. In the case of capturing solar energy in an off-grid system, it uses batteries and does not need a connection with the concessionaire. We will talk about each type in sequence, so that it will be easier to understand each system and its characteristics
Solar energy: Off-grid system
The off-grid system is the system disconnected from the concessionaire’s electrical network, where the capture plates generate electrical energy that is stored in batteries, a converter transforms the direct current of the electrical energy stored in the batteries into alternating current so that it can be used installation, as shown in the image below.
The off-grid system is generally used for specific locations such as water pumping and electrification of fences, for example. Energy is only stored when production exceeds consumption! Because it is a self-sustaining system, it is quite complete and is naturally more expensive than the on-grid system. Its components are:
- Generation block – Composed of solar panels, support structure and cables.
- Power conditioning block – Composed of inverters and charge controllers.
- Storage block – Composed of batteries
Therefore, the off-grid system does not depend on the concessionaire and precisely for that reason, there is no need for any type of authorization when this type of solar energy capture system is used.
Solar energy: On-grid system
The on-grid system is connected to the concessionaire’s network and the capture plates generate electrical energy that goes directly to the converter. The energy generated through this system supplies the entire residence together with the energy from the distributor’s electrical network, as shown in the image below.
When the production of solar energy is higher than the expenses, the excess is directed to a distribution system of the concessionaire, which generates credits. For this system to be used, it is necessary to use a bidirectional meter that can only be installed by the concessionaire itself. And precisely because it is much more complex and involves the concessionaire, the on-grid system needs to have the concessionaire’s authorization in all stages, from the project to the execution.
It is important to inform that there are deadlines for completing each stage and inspection by the concessionaire. Therefore, the person must plan very well, because it is not just calling the dealership the day you want, everything is previously scheduled. Therefore, before calling the dealership, check all the necessary documents and when scheduling, have the electrical project ready.
Well, with this information we hope to have removed all doubts about the authorization for the installation of solar energy generation systems. If you still have a question, leave it in the comments and we will be happy to answer it.
